Fitness Assessments
A valuable tool in developing your workout and keeping you motivated! These one-hour sessions are performed using the MicroFit FAS-2 System, a FDA-registered medical device. Members receive an action-oriented, detailed and accurate report including weight, body fat, lean mass, blood pressure, heart rate, flexibility, strength and cardiovascular fitness.

The First Step Run/Walk Class
This run/walk program will take you from a 45-minute walk to a 5 K run. All runs are at your own pace. You can do this! And you will meet new friends. Side effects include weight loss, stress reduction, improved fitness, and more energy.
The 10-week course is led by a certified personal trainer and focuses on safety, injury prevention, stretching and motivation.

Podiatrist Dr. Brett Stark will assess walk/run gait and footwear needs during the first week. Participants will receive the latest
information on sports nutrition and hydration, running form (for injury prevention) and proper footwear and insoles to protect your feet,
knees, hips and back during jogging.
Wellness Coaching
Most of us need a little help to jump-start improvement in our fitness, weight, stress, and management of the life issues that impact health.
Wellness Coaching - Partner with a Coach for the structure, accountability and expertise you need to be your best self. Using tools learned from proven behavioral change concepts, your coach will help you take charge of your life.
Scheduled weekly phone coaching sessions will help you clarify where you want to go, and help you get there.

SliverSneakers Fitness Program
Opelika Parks & Recreation is proud to be the only Lee County provider of the nation’s leading fitness program designed exclusively for older adults. Meet new friends while you combine fun and fitness.
SilverSneakers I: Muscular Strength and Range of Movement
Combine fun and fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a sitting and standing circuit workout. Upper body strength work with hand held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball is alternated with non-impact aerobic choreography. A chair is offered for support, stretching and relaxation exercises.

Time: 9:15 - 10:15 a.m.

SilverSneakers II: Cardio Circuit
Combine fun and fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout. Upper and lower body strength work is alternated with non-impact aerobic choreography. Participants must have sufficient muscular strength and endurance to exercise from a standing position for a minimum of 30 minutes.
