The vision of the Opelika Police Department is to provide professional police service in partnership with our community to enhance the quality of life to our citizens, by providing a safe environment through the protection of life and property within the framework of the United States Constitution, and serving with integrity and respect.

INTEGRITY
All employees of the Opelika Police Department will uphold the public trust by being honest, truthful, and consistent in our beliefs and actions. Members of the Opelika Police Department will provide quality service through a partnership with the community and a commitment to excellence. We will constantly strive to solve problems and be responsive to our community's needs and concerns. We will hold ourselves accountable to the citizens of Opelika, recognizing service to others as our highest honor.

All members of the Opelika Police Department will respect and protect the constitutional rights of all citizens, treating them with courtesy, compassion and dignity. We are committed to protecting the rights of our employees by enhancing their work life through fair and equal treatment.
Police Department Family 
The Opelika Police Department has slots for eighty-two sworn officers, plus additional slots for non-sworn personnel (jailers, records clerks, dispatchers, etc).
We have a para-military command structure with a Chief of Police, Captains (Division Commanders), Lieutenants, Sergeants, Corporals, Officers/Detectives.
We are the 8th largest police department in the State of Alabama.
Our Uniform Division operates on four days on / four days off work schedule, allowing for the maximum number of officers on patrol at any given time.
