While the Opelika Light & Power's main facilities is housed on Avenue C, the customer service, billing services are located on the first floor of the City Hall at 204 South 7th Street for customer convenience.  You apply for new service at the City Hall location.  When applying for new service, you will need to provide us with the following information:  proof of identification, a current driver's license, and your social security number.  Rental property customers will need to provide a current lease.  Service will be connected the same day if the application is made before 12:00 noon, pending approval from inspection, if that is required.

Payments can be made in person at the City Hall.  We have a drive-in window and a night depository for your convenience.  We also offer bank drafting as a free service.

The following deposits apply to all new customers.

• Residential Deposit:   $75.00
• Commercial Deposit: $200.00 minimum
• Connection Fee:          $25.00
• Refuse Deposit:          $25.00

Transfer Service

Requests to have service transferred must be made in person at the Opelika City Hall.  As with new customers, you will need to provide us with proof of identification.  Rental customers will need to provide us with a current lease.  The account balance must be paid in full.  If your deposit amounts are not current, you will be required to update those to the current amount for electric and refuse services.  There is a $15.00 transfer free.

Theft of Service

Theft of service is illegal.  We take it seriously and often seek prosecution when it occurs.  If a meter has been disconnected and the seal has been broken or tampered with, the customer will be required to pay a double deposit, a $100.00 tampering fee for each offense and use of unauthorized electricity before service will be reinstated.  Service call fees may also apply.
