East Alabama Recycling Partnership to Host Electronics Recycling and Document Shredding Event

Opelika, AL (April 10, 2012) - The East Alabama Recycling Partnership (EARP) will host an Electronics Recycling Event on Saturday, April 21st.  Citizens and businesses are encouraged to participate in the countywide event.  The event will take place at Lee County’s facility at 100 Orr Avenue in Opelika from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The site is located off Marvyn Parkway, behind Four Seasons Federal Credit Union.

The Electronics Recycling Event will provide an opportunity for citizens to dispose of used electronics in an environmentally responsible manner. The following items can be brought to the recycling event: TVs, computers (monitors and drives), small kitchen appliances, video games, cords, cell phones, DVD players, and tapes. There is no charge for items brought to be recycled.

Citizens will also have the opportunity to bring papers for on-site shredding. Representatives from East Alabama Shredding & Security will be collecting unwanted documents for shredding. There is a 3 box limit per vehicle.

New this year, the Partnership will be accepting donations of canned good or cash donations for the East Alabama Food Bank. These items will benefit residence of Lee County in the fight against hunger.

The East Alabama Recycling Partnership is composed of Auburn University, City of Auburn, City of Opelika, and Lee County. The group was formed in 2009 in effort to combine resources and expertise with plans to create a combined recycling program.
